Pets Over Perks: A Shifting Workplace Priority
The “Pet-Friendly Advantage” report, which surveyed over 16,000 employees across 16 European countries, indicates that pet-friendly policies are no longer optional perks but essential elements of workplace culture. In Poland, 80% of employees believe that the presence of animals creates a more relaxed atmosphere, with demand for these policies often outweighing traditional benefits like free snacks or ping-pong tables.
Data shows that 37% of Polish workers prioritize pet-friendly policies over personal benefits such as travel subsidies or company discounts. Furthermore, 35% of respondents value these policies more than extended benefits like private healthcare or parental leave.
Generational Trends and Talent Retention
Younger generations are the primary drivers of this trend. Nearly 35% of employees aged 18-24 actively look for pet-friendly workplace information in job advertisements, compared to 29% of workers over the age of 55. Companies that adopt these policies are increasingly finding them to be a critical tool for attracting and retaining top talent.
Bridging the Gap for the Return to Office
As companies move to formalize return-to-office mandates, pet-friendly policies serve as a practical solution for balancing professional and personal responsibilities. Approximately 49% of Polish workers believe that pet-friendly companies provide better support for returning to the office, viewing such policies as a clear signal of an employer’s commitment to staff well-being.
Methodology and Institutional Support
This research, commissioned by Mars and conducted by Censuswide, surveyed 16,006 employees over the age of 18 between March 31 and April 15, 2026, including 1,001 participants from Poland. The findings are part of the broader BETTER CITIES FOR PETS initiative, which offers guides for organizations looking to integrate animal-friendly practices into their professional environments.
