Downtown Warsaw Police Arrest Suspects for Gallery Vandalism and Threats

Downtown Warsaw police have arrested a 44-year-old man for vandalizing a craft gallery on Marszałkowska Street and a 65-year-old man for issuing criminal threats against the gallery’s staff.

Vandalism Motivated by Political Grievance

On July 6, a 44-year-old Polish citizen caused damage to a craft gallery located on Marszałkowska Street. Following the incident, police secured the scene, gathered forensic evidence, and identified the suspect.

Upon his arrest in downtown Warsaw, the man admitted to the crime, stating he was provoked by videos of a July 4 march and the gallery employee’s public disapproval of the demonstrators’ views. The suspect has a prior criminal record involving drug offenses and crimes against life and property.

Criminal Threats Against Gallery Staff

Simultaneously, law enforcement investigated reports of threats directed at the gallery’s employees. Police identified the suspect as a 65-year-old resident of the Lesser Poland region.

Through cooperation between Warsaw and Krakow police, the suspect was arrested the day after the incident. The District Prosecutor’s Office in Warsaw-Śródmieście has charged the man with two counts of issuing criminal threats and imposed preventive measures, including police supervision and a restraining order.
