Investigation Closed: Death of 31-Year-Old at Drobin Rectory Deemed Non-Criminal

Prosecutors in Płock have discontinued the investigation into the September 2024 death of a 31-year-old man at a parish rectory in Drobin, citing a lack of evidence of any crime.

Case Dismissal and Legal Status

The District Prosecutor’s Office in Płock announced that the investigation into the involuntary manslaughter of the man has been closed, as no criminal offense was identified. This decision also covers allegations of failure to provide assistance.

The ruling is not yet final, as the victim’s legal representative has filed an appeal with the District Court in Sierpc. Meanwhile, a separate investigation into the supply of narcotics and psychotropic substances remains ongoing.

Cause of Death and Medical Findings

Expert analysis of blood samples taken during the autopsy concluded that the man died as a result of poisoning by various substances. Previously, initial examinations indicated circulatory and respiratory failure, with no external signs of trauma on the body.

Church Administrative Response

Following the incident, the Płock Curia established a special commission to investigate the matter. The vicar involved was removed from his position and left the parish, and the Curia issued statements expressing deep regret regarding the tragedy.
