Investigation into Financial Misconduct
The detentions were carried out on the orders of the Regional Prosecutor’s Office in Rzeszów. The investigation concerns the abuse of power and failure to fulfill duties by members of the Polish National Foundation’s board in 2017.
The case specifically involves the financing of the “Fair Courts” media campaign. Authorities allege this activity caused significant property damage to the foundation, amounting to at least 8.4 million PLN.
Identities of the Detained Officials
Jacek Dobrzyński, spokesperson for the minister-coordinator of special services, confirmed the arrests of Maciej Ś. and Cezary J. via social media. Among those detained is Maciej Świrski, the former chairman of the National Broadcasting Council (KRRiT).
