Hours after Spain’s semifinal victory against France, two masked men attempted to break into Lamine Yamal’s residence in Esplugues de Llobregat, fleeing only after being confronted by private security.

Shortly after the Euro semifinal match where Spain defeated France 2-0, an attempted burglary occurred at the home of Spanish player Lamine Yamal. Two masked individuals scaled the perimeter wall of the property but were forced to retreat following the intervention of security personnel.

Police Investigation Underway

A spokesperson for the Mossos d’Esquadra, the Catalan police force, confirmed the attempted break-in to the AFP agency but withheld the owner’s identity citing privacy regulations. The incident occurred at dawn, shortly after the match in which Yamal earned the penalty that led to the opening goal.

History of the Property and Security Concerns

Local media reports, including those from the newspaper La Vanguardia, noted that the property was formerly owned by Gerard Pique and Shakira. Catalan police are also investigating a separate violent robbery at a different property in the same neighborhood.

The incident adds to a string of similar crimes targeting professional footballers in Spain. In recent years, players such as Karim Benzema, Rodrygo, and Dani Carvajal have also fallen victim to residential burglaries.
