Poplar Tree Collapses Onto Bemowo Building, Destroys Roof

A poplar tree broke during strong winds and crashed into a building at Osiedle Przyjaźń in Bemowo at 4:14 PM, damaging half of the roof but causing no injuries.

The Incident and Damage

At 4:14 PM, the fire department received reports that a tree had snapped during high winds and collapsed onto a building at Osiedle Przyjaźń in the Bemowo district. The main section of the poplar struck and destroyed approximately half of the roof on the 15-by-40-meter structure.

Emergency Response

Three units of the State Fire Service were dispatched to the scene. Firefighters confirmed that no one was inside the building at the time, and no injuries were reported. Their primary operations involved securing the site and removing the fallen tree from the roof.

Safety and Building Inspection

Utility workers from the power emergency service were called to disconnect electricity to the facility. Due to the significant structural damage, a building inspector was summoned to assess the site, subsequently issuing an order to temporarily prohibit the use of the building. Emergency operations concluded at 6:48 PM. Unofficial reports indicate that the building was inhabited by approximately 20 people.
