Dworczyk Refuses to Sign PiS Loyalty Declaration Over Political Associations Ban

Speaking on Polish Radio 24, Law and Justice MEP Michał Dworczyk announced he will not sign a party declaration banning membership in political associations, despite the threat of expulsion.

PiS Ultimatum on Political Associations

On Tuesday, July 21, Michał Dworczyk addressed the discussion surrounding the resolution issued by the leadership of Law and Justice (PiS). The party leadership decided that members belonging to associations of a political nature must resign from them by July 23 and sign a statement to that effect, with non-compliance resulting in party expulsion.

Dworczyk Rejects the Declaration

During an interview with Paweł Pawłowski on Polish Radio 24, Dworczyk was asked if he signed the loyalty document regarding the ban on associations. The MEP stated that while every parliamentarian received a document draft via email, he does not intend to sign this declaration.

Hopes for De-escalation and No Expulsion

Dworczyk expressed hope that his refusal to sign would not lead to his exclusion from PiS and emphasized the need to clear up misunderstandings among members. He also called on individuals generating tension and misleading the party leadership to take a step back.

Statements from Obajtek and Czerwińska

Michał Dworczyk was among the signatories of a letter sent to Jarosław Kaczyński by PiS politicians linked to Mateusz Morawiecki’s “Rozwój Plus” association, which was also signed by Daniel Obajtek and Anita Czerwińska. PiS spokesperson Rafał Bochenek confirmed on RMF24 that Anita Czerwińska and Daniel Obajtek had already submitted their statements regarding the ban, with Obajtek resigning from the association following a meeting with Jarosław Kaczyński.
