Truck Crash on S8 Blocks A2 Interchange After Driver Falls Asleep

A truck crashed into barriers and overturned on the S8 route at the Konotopa interchange early Saturday, completely blocking the A2 motorway slip road toward Poznań.

On Saturday, July 25, at around 1:40 AM on the S8 route at the Konotopa interchange in West Warsaw County, a serious traffic incident occurred. A vehicle struck the barriers and then overturned onto its side, completely blocking the exit to the A2 motorway toward Poznań.

Preliminary findings and the driver’s account indicate that the man fell asleep at the wheel. As a result of losing control, he hit the barriers located at the A2/S2 fork, with an impact strong enough to flip the vehicle.

Driver Condition and Emergency Response

Despite the severe appearance of the incident, the driver suffered no injuries and did not require hospital transport. At this time, the result of his sobriety test is not known.

Three fire units operated at the scene: firefighters from OSP Ożarów Mazowiecki as well as JRG 6 and JRG Błonie. Rescuers secured the site and the damaged vehicle, while police continued further actions to determine the exact causes and circumstances of the accident.

Traffic Disruptions and Safety Reminder

The exit from the S8 route to the A2 motorway toward Poznań remains blocked, and removing the vehicle and damaged infrastructure elements may take several more hours. Drivers should use the detour routed via national road No. 92 and the S2 route.
