Temporary Arrest for 25-Year-Old Suspected of Fatal Grievous Bodily Harm

A 25-year-old man faces up to life imprisonment after being arrested and temporarily detained for causing fatal grievous bodily harm to a 48-year-old resident of Nowe Miasto.

Discovery of the Body and Initial Intervention

Information regarding the death of the 48-year-old resident of Nowe Miasto was received by police officers from the Płońsk headquarters on Sunday, July 19, at around 8:00 AM. Findings indicated that the man lying on the floor in the house was found by his 25-year-old roommate, who rented a room from him. Emergency services were dispatched to the scene, but despite resuscitation efforts, the 48-year-old’s life could not be saved.

Crime Scene Investigation and Autopsy

The circumstances of the man’s death required thorough clarification from the beginning. The physician pronouncing death did not initially rule out the involvement of third parties, which is why an investigative group and a forensic technician were dispatched to the scene, and the prosecutor was notified. The prosecutor, along with police officers, conducted an inspection of the incident site and secured numerous forensic traces, while also beginning to question individuals who might have knowledge about the circumstances of the event.

The body of the 48-year-old was secured for an autopsy, the results of which were intended to help determine the exact cause of death. The opinion from the conducted examinations clearly showed that another person contributed to the man’s demise.

Operational Work and Identification of the Suspect

In parallel with procedural activities, police officers conducted operational actions. After analyzing the gathered material, including the autopsy results, the officers identified a 25-year-old resident of Nowe Miasto as the person suspected of causing the injuries that led to the death of the 48-year-old. Police officers immediately checked the man’s place of residence, but did not find him there, and the gathered information indicated that the man had left for southern Poland.

Tracking and Arrest in Silesia

Officers from the Criminal Department of the Płońsk headquarters established cooperation with officers from the Voivodeship Police Headquarters in Katowice and subsequently with officers from the County Police Headquarters in Cieszyn. Thanks to the exchange of information and further operational findings, the officers determined the location where the 25-year-old might be staying.

On Saturday, July 25, police officers from Cieszyn tracked him down on one of the streets in Zebrzydowice Śląskie and arrested him. The man was then transported to Płońsk, where police officers conducted further proceedings with him.

Charges and Temporary Detention

On Monday, July 27, the 25-year-old was brought to the District Prosecutor’s Office in Płońsk. Based on the evidence gathered by the police officers and the autopsy results, the prosecutor presented him with charges of causing grievous bodily harm resulting in a human death, for which he faces a sentence of up to life imprisonment.

At the prosecutor’s request, the court applied a preventive measure against the 25-year-old in the form of a three-month temporary arrest.
