E-Cigarettes Without Excise Tax: 43-Year-Old Vietnamese Citizen Detained

Warsaw police detained a 43-year-old Vietnamese national after discovering over 2,300 untaxed e-cigarettes and 64 liters of liquid in a vehicle in the Piaseczno county.

Officers from the Economic Crime Department of the Capital Police Headquarters acted on intelligence regarding a vehicle containing e-cigarettes without Polish excise tax stamps parked on a property in Piaseczno county.

Search of the Volkswagen Transporter

Upon arriving at the scene, officers encountered the vehicle owner. A search of the VW Transporter revealed several dozen cartons containing over 2,300 e-cigarettes of various brands and capacities lacking Polish excise stamps, along with more than 64 liters of liquid.

Detention and Suspect’s Testimony

Police detained the 43-year-old Vietnamese citizen who admitted the goods belonged to him. He stated he received the merchandise from a Chinese national and intended to sell it at a bazaar in Jabłonowo, adding that the Chinese man periodically collected sales money and delivered new goods without the suspect having his personal details.

Financial Loss and Further Proceedings

The 43-year-old will face charges for storing electronic cigarettes without Polish excise stamps, causing a state treasury loss of over 325,000 PLN in unpaid excise tax. The Mazovian Customs and Tax Office is also handling the case.
