Drunk Driver Arrested After Driving to Warsaw Store for Beer with 2.7 Promiles

A vigilant witness in Warsaw prevented a heavily intoxicated driver from continuing his journey after he drove to a local store to buy beer on Sunday morning.

Citizen Intervention Stops Intoxicated Driver

Driving a Kia vehicle to a store in Warsaw’s Białołęka district to buy beer, a man was prevented from continuing his journey thanks to the decisive reaction of a witness who suspected he was under the influence of alcohol and called the police.

Police Arrival and Breathalyzer Test

Upon arriving at the scene, Warsaw traffic police officers detected a strong smell of alcohol coming from the man, and a sobriety test revealed nearly 2.7 promiles of alcohol in his system, which he attempted to excuse by claiming he had only drunk two beers before sleeping.

Detention and Legal Consequences

The driver was detained and taken to the nearest police station for further proceedings, while his vehicle was seized and towed to a guarded parking lot.

Facing up to 3 years of imprisonment for driving a motor vehicle while intoxicated, the man will answer to a court, and current regulations may also result in the forfeiture of his vehicle.
