When Will the Heatwaves Ease? The Exact Date of the Dramatic Temperature Drop

Poland faces extreme temperatures reaching up to 40 degrees Celsius and violent storms before a sharp and sudden cooling trend arrives across the country.

Dynamic Weather Ahead

The coming days will bring very dynamic weather. Before cooler air reaches the country, many regions will face temperatures reaching up to forty degrees Celsius and violent storms. However, forecasts show that the cooling will arrive faster than it might seem.

Peak of the Heatwave and Severe Storms

Wednesday and Thursday will be the hottest days of the current heatwave. The temperature in the center of the country will reach about 36 degrees Celsius, and locally in the south of Mazovia and the Lublin region, it may rise even up to 40 degrees Celsius. At the same time, storms will begin to develop from the west and northwest. In places, they will bring intensive rainfall, hail, and very strong wind.

Gusts can reach up to ninety kilometers per hour, and during the most violent phenomena, from twenty to even 45 millimeters of rain will fall.

Sudden Drop in Temperatures

The weather change will begin as early as Friday. Cooler air from the northwest will flow into the country, which is why in central Poland the temperature will drop to about 24 degrees, and by the sea it will be only about 18 degrees. It will remain warmest in the far south-east, where thermometers will show up to twenty-seven degrees Celsius. In many regions, intermittent rainfall and storms will still be possible, especially in the south and east of the country.

Weekend Stabilization Followed by Return of Summer Heat

Saturday promises to be decidedly calmer. Intermittent rainfall will still appear in the north, east, and part of the center, but in most of the country the temperature will remain at 24 to 26 degrees Celsius, which means a clear end to extreme heatwaves. On Sunday, the weather will become more summer-like again. In the south-west, the temperature may rise to 31 degrees Celsius, but in most regions it will remain much more pleasant than during the Wednesday and Thursday heat wave.

Fluctuating Temperatures in the Coming Week

At the beginning of next week, temperatures will rise again. In many regions, thermometers will show from 28 to 32 degrees Celsius. Together with warmer air, storms and intermittent rainfall will also return. On Tuesday, a cooler air mass will begin to push out the heat, so in the center of the country the temperature will drop to about 26 degrees Celsius, and by the sea to about 19 degrees Celsius. This means that the coming days will pass under the sign of frequent and dynamic weather changes.
