Off-Duty Police Officer Delivers Baby at Gas Station in Frydrychow

An off-duty police officer successfully delivered a baby at a gas station in Frydrychow on Wednesday, August 5, after a couple’s journey to the Torun hospital was cut short by labor.

Police Intervention at National Road 15

The incident occurred on Wednesday, August 5, at 2:45 PM in Frydrychow, located in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship along national road 15. A police officer passing through the village noticed a man gesturing toward a police vehicle and immediately responded by pulling over to the scene.

Emergency Delivery En Route to Hospital

As it turned out, the man and his wife were traveling from Rypin to a hospital in Torun when they were forced to stop at a gas station because the woman had gone into labor. The couple was already in contact with an emergency services dispatcher at that moment.

Successful Delivery and Hospital Transfer

Staff Sergeant Pawel Kozlowski stepped in without hesitation, safely delivering the baby thanks to his composure and experience. A medical rescue team arrived a few minutes later to transport the mother and newborn to the Torun hospital, where both are reported to be doing well according to a police Facebook post.

The Bydgoszcz police headquarters congratulated the parents on the birth of their child, wished the family good health, and thanked the officer for his professionalism and conduct worthy of the uniform.
