Nawrocki: I Will Never Step Off the Path I Entered During the Campaign

During a Thursday ceremony, President Karol Nawrocki declared he remains the voice of the Polish people, criticizing the Senate and Sejm while defending his legislative and foreign policies.

The Voice of the People

– You are the strength and hope of the President of the Republic of Poland, you, the people – said Nawrocki during the ceremony on Thursday, August 6. – You are with me, and I always am and will be with you – he added. Nawrocki said that in making all decisions, he is the voice of Poles.

– Power is for the citizens, and not the citizens for power, therefore judge me – he appealed. – From the path I entered during the election campaign, I will never step down. I will be and remain only your voice – assured Nawrocki.

Legislative Initiatives and Institutional Obstacles

The President admitted that not all of his demands have been realized so far, but assured at the same time that he remembers all of them and will effectively strive to implement them into life. He referred to the decision of the Senate, which rejected Nawrocki’s motion to hold a referendum regarding EU climate policy. According to the president, such an attitude does not harmonize with democratic values. Nawrocki also said that 21 out of 22 of his legislative initiatives were “frozen” in the Sejm.

– The president is not only here to opine on the law and deal with acts that come from the Sejm. The president is also here to come forward with legislative initiatives and to carry your voice and your postulates – he emphasized. Nawrocki also said that he signed many acts presented by the government and reasonably used the right of veto.

Foreign Policy and Relations with Ukraine

– I feel that I am realizing what I promised you in the election campaign. I promised that I would build strong relations with our strategic ally – the United States and President Trump. From September 3 through subsequent meetings and talks, I managed to create a highway to the permanent presence of US troops in Poland. I promised that I would strive for a strong presence of Poland in NATO. We are building our strength and responsibility on the eastern flank. The fact that the entire Three Seas Initiative recognized Poland’s presence in the G20 is a concrete fact. This is proof that we are a leader. We want to be in the EU and we are helping it wake up from the lethargy of climate policy, the Green Deal, immigration policy. Europe needs Poland more than ever – said Nawrocki.

The President emphasized that “it is Poland’s interest that Ukraine copes as best as possible with the post-Soviet Russian Federation.” – But Poland’s strategic interest is also that Banderite flags do not wave with us. You can help and you can demand. You can cooperate as partners and understand each other. We will help, but always saying: Poland first, Poles first – he added.
