Road Chaos Between Goleni贸w and Szczecin
Sunday’s return from vacations by the sea turned into a true road nightmare. On the route between Goleni贸w and Szczecin, as well as on the A6 motorway and the S3 road, multi-kilometer traffic jams formed. GDDKiA warns of massive delays, with queues reaching 8 kilometers both toward the south of Poland and in the direction of 艢winouj艣cie.
On the route between Goleni贸w and Szczecin, congestion formed with a length of about 8 kilometers. Further along the motorway leading to the border crossing in Ko艂baskowo and the exit toward Gorz贸w Wlkp. on the S3 road, the traffic jam measured 5 kilometers, as reported by GDDKiA on Sunday before 2:00 PM.
Motorists returning from coastal towns became stuck on several sections of the S3 expressway and the A6 motorway near Szczecin.
GDDKiA Reports Extensive Congestion Near Szczecin
Between the Goleni贸w Po艂udnie and Szczecin Kijewo junctions, due to high traffic volume, numerous traffic jams persisted with a total length of approximately 8 kilometers, according to a statement from the duty officer of the Szczecin branch of the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways.
The duty officer of the road information point noted that past the Kijewo junction, on the A6 in the direction of the Polish-German border crossing in Ko艂baskowo, heavy traffic slowdowns were also observed. The 5-kilometer traffic jam stretched to the Szczecin Klucz junction, which provides access to the S3 toward Gorz贸w Wielkopolski, Zielona G贸ra, and Wroc艂aw.
Massive Sunday Return Peak Affects Both Directions
As always on Sundays, the heaviest traffic flows from north to south as tens of thousands of motorized tourists return from the seaside. However, on the A6 and S3 near Szczecin, travelers heading toward the Baltic Sea also found themselves stuck in traffic. GDDKiA reported before 2:00 PM that the queue in the direction of 艢winouj艣cie was also approximately 8 kilometers long.
