Warsaw Metro Station Closed Temporarily Over Unattended Luggage

Warsaw’s Stadion Narodowy metro station was temporarily closed on Monday evening after police received a report regarding unattended luggage near the entrance gates.

Station Closure and Train Operations

On Monday evening, August 10, the Stadion Narodowy metro station on the M2 line was temporarily closed following a report concerning unattended luggage. Trains continue to run along the entire route in both directions, but they pass through the station without stopping. Police are conducting operations at the scene, and Warsaw Public Transport has launched a replacement bus line.

The report regarding the unattended luggage was received by police on Monday at 19:33. The item was located in the area of the ticket barriers at the Stadion Narodowy station. Due to the report, the station was closed while M2 line trains continue to pass through without stopping. A police dog was also deployed to the scene.

Police Investigation Status

At this stage, police have not disclosed what is inside the unattended luggage. It also remains unknown how long the inspection of the item and the associated station closure will last. Warsaw Public Transport confirmed the temporary closure of station C14 Stadion Narodowy, a decision made at the request of emergency services due to the unattended luggage.

M2 line trains pass through the station without stopping in the direction of both Bemowo and Bródno. Other stations along the route remain fully operational and serviced.

Alternative Public Transport Arrangements

Passengers who planned to start or end their journey at Stadion Narodowy must use alternative public transport connections. Warsaw Public Transport recommends using ground transportation primarily for the section between Dworzec Wileński, the Kijowska street area, and the Stadion Narodowy station.

Passengers have access to tram lines 3, 6, and 76, as well as bus lines 135, 166, and 509. Additionally, a replacement bus line Z “ZA METRO” has been launched, operating between Dworzec Wileński and the Metro Centrum Nauki Kopernik station.

In the direction of Centrum Nauki Kopernik, the route runs from the Dworzec Wileński 01 stop via Targowa, Sokola, and Zamoście streets, and then across the Świętokrzyski Bridge to the Metro Centrum Nauki Kopernik 04 stop. In the opposite direction, buses depart from the Metro Centrum Nauki Kopernik 03 stop, traveling via the Świętokrzyski Bridge, Zamoście, Sokola, Zamoyskiego, Jagiellońska, Okrzei, and Targowa streets to the Dworzec Wileński 02 stop.

According to the Warsaw Public Transport announcement published on Monday evening, the Stadion Narodowy station remains temporarily out of service. No time has been provided for the resumption of normal passenger traffic at the station.
