Drunk driver with driving ban crashes into bus and flees into woods before being caught by witness

A drunk driver with a court-ordered driving ban crashed his car into a bus in Cegielnia before fleeing on foot into a nearby forest, where he was apprehended by a witness.

Collision in Cegielnia

A dangerous traffic incident occurred before 3:00 PM in the village of Cegielnia in Płock County. According to initial police findings, a 53-year-old Ford driver likely drifted into the oncoming lane and collided with a Fiat bus traveling from the opposite direction.

The Fiat was driven by a 48-year-old man. Following the impact, the Ford veered off the roadway and plunged into a roadside ditch, after which the Ford driver abandoned his vehicle and fled toward a nearby forest.

Witness Apprehension and Police Intervention

The man failed to escape the scene of the incident thanks to the immediate reaction of a witness who detained him. Police officers were called to the location to begin clarifying the exact circumstances of the event.

During their procedures, officers checked the 53-year-old’s sobriety, revealing that he had nearly 2 permilles of alcohol in his system. Additionally, it was discovered that the man was subject to a court-ordered driving ban.

Blood Test and Road Blockage

Blood was also drawn from the driver for further testing. Police will now establish the precise course and circumstances of the entire incident in detail.

Despite the dangerous road situation and the collision between the two vehicles, fortunately, no one sustained serious injuries. The road remained blocked while emergency services carried out their operations.
