16-Year-Old Cyclist Struck by BMW on Pedestrian Crossing in Józefów, Critically Injured

A 16-year-old cyclist was critically injured and hurled over a dozen meters after being struck by a BMW driven by a 20-year-old man on a provincial road in Józefów on Sunday afternoon.

Serious Accident on Provincial Road 721

A serious accident occurred on Sunday, August 9, at around 3:15 PM on provincial road no. 721 in Józefów, within the Otwock district. As a result of the incident, a 16-year-old female cyclist was critically injured.

Collision at the Pedestrian Crossing

Preliminary findings indicate that the 16-year-old riding a bicycle entered a marked pedestrian crossing without traffic lights. She was then struck by a passenger BMW driven by a 20-year-old man.

Hospitalization and Emergency Response

The force of the impact was very strong, leaving the teenager a dozen meters away from the point of collision. The 16-year-old was transported to the hospital with severe injuries, while the BMW driver was sober.

Police officers, an emergency medical team, and the fire department worked at the scene to determine the exact circumstances and course of the accident, causing the road to be blocked during the operations.

City Requests Traffic Lights

On Monday, the City of Józefów announced that, following the accident, it submitted a request to the road manager to install traffic lights in the area of the MILO PARK shopping center.

The City of Józefów stated that in connection with the previous day’s traffic accident on provincial road 721 near the MILO PARK shopping center, they applied to the road manager for the installation of traffic lights at that location.
