Bomb Disposal Operations Underway in Wola
Bomb disposal specialists are active near the intersection of Żelazna and Grzybowska streets in Warsaw’s Wola district after unexploded ordnance was discovered during excavation work. Residents of buildings at 43 and 45 Grzybowska Street have been evacuated, and a security zone with a radius of approximately 400 meters has been established around the find.
Discovery and Initial Police Response
The unexploded ordnance was uncovered on Thursday afternoon just after 3:00 PM during excavation work in the area of the Żelazna and Grzybowska street intersection. Police were called to the scene and secured the area for over a dozen hours.
Expert Intervention and Traffic Disruption
On Friday morning, bomb disposal experts from Kazuń arrived in Wola, leading to the decision to evacuate nearby apartment blocks and set up the safety zone. Services are continuously operating at the site, and traffic around the Żelazna and Grzybowska intersection remains blocked, marking another recent discovery of unexploded ordnance in Warsaw.
Public Transport Detours
WTP reports disruptions to bus lines 106 and 157 due to ongoing emergency services operations in the area of Żelazna and Grzybowska streets. Buses have been redirected onto detour routes, affecting line 106 toward Ostroroga and Mariensztat as well as line 157 in both directions.
