Jacek Kurski Questioned by Prosecutors Over Zbigniew Ziobro Case

Former TVP head Jacek Kurski voluntarily testified before the National Prosecutor’s Office regarding the whereabouts and potential assistance provided to fugitive former Justice Minister Zbigniew Ziobro, who faces numerous criminal charges.

Prosecution’s Inquiry into Ziobro’s Whereabouts

A spokesperson for the National Prosecutor’s Office confirmed that Jacek Kurski appeared voluntarily to provide testimony. Investigators sought to verify reports concerning whether Kurski had hosted Zbigniew Ziobro at his private residence.

Prosecutor Nowak stated that authorities specifically asked Kurski about his knowledge regarding the suspect’s current location. Officials emphasized that there was never any suspicion that Kurski was involved in Ziobro’s earlier departure from Hungary.

Kurski Denies Hosting Ziobro in the United States

Following his testimony on Monday, June 15, Kurski appeared on TVN24 to deny that Zbigniew Ziobro had ever resided in the townhouse he owns with his wife near Washington, D.C. He clarified that he answered questions aimed at verifying media speculation about his alleged role in shielding or assisting Ziobro.

Kurski added that while he would have been honored to host Ziobro and his family, no such situation has occurred. The prosecutor’s office confirmed that the legal proceedings regarding Kurski’s involvement in this matter are now concluded.

Background of Charges Against Ziobro

Investigators suspect Zbigniew Ziobro of committing 26 offenses, including leading an organized criminal group during his tenure as Justice Minister under the PiS government. In 2025, the Sejm authorized his detention and temporary arrest in connection with the Justice Fund scandal.

After receiving political asylum in Hungary under Viktor Orbán’s administration, Ziobro moved to the United States. On May 10, he confirmed his relocation to the U.S. via Telewizja Republika, stating he intends to observe Polish affairs from abroad, though he declined to disclose the whereabouts of his former deputy, Marcin Romanowski.
