Investigation into Hospital Protocols
On Wednesday, June 17, the Warsaw District Prosecutor’s Office initiated an ex officio investigation into the Southern Hospital. Investigators are examining whether patients in the emergency department were exposed to risks of death or serious health impairment.
The probe also focuses on the potential falsification of medical records to secure financial gains, specifically regarding the reporting of working hours at the facility.
Authorities are determining if the hospital’s operational system violated standard triage rules, the critical medical protocol used to assess patient urgency and maximize survival rates in emergency wards.
Allegations of Preferential Access
Reports indicate that an unofficial, expedited admission lane was created for members of the Civic Coalition and their relatives. Zero.pl described the designated area as a “VIP lounge,” allegedly established by Dawid Kacprzyk, a local district councilor.
Kacprzyk, a resident physician at the hospital, reported 1.6 million PLN in income from his public sector role. Media reports suggest his clinical schedule frequently overlapped with his appearances in the Senate and on national television.
Termination and Political Repercussions
The Southern Hospital confirmed the termination of its contract with Dawid Kacprzyk on Wednesday. Two days earlier, Marcin Kierwiński, head of the Warsaw branch of the Civic Coalition, announced that the 29-year-old had resigned his party membership.
Prime Minister Donald Tusk has announced widespread inspections of public hospitals. He stated that any violations of law will be referred to prosecutors, while breaches of professional ethics will carry political consequences.
