City Bus Engulfed in Flames in Praga-Południe; Traffic Paralyzed

An LNG-powered city bus was completely destroyed by fire on Al. Stanów Zjednoczonych in Warsaw’s Praga-Południe district on Tuesday evening, forcing a major closure of the route toward Rondo Wiatraczna.

The Incident and Emergency Response

At approximately 6:34 PM near the intersection of Al. Stanów Zjednoczonych and Saska Street, an LNG-powered city bus caught fire. The blaze originated in the rear of the vehicle and rapidly engulfed the entire bus.

All passengers successfully evacuated the vehicle before emergency services arrived, and no injuries were reported. Despite the rapid spread of the fire, which damaged nearby acoustic screens, black smoke was visible from across Warsaw.

Traffic Disruptions and Investigation

Three fire brigade units, a municipal operational group, ZTM traffic supervisors, and police were deployed to the scene. Authorities established a safety zone due to the nature of the vehicle’s fuel system.

Traffic heading toward Rondo Wiatraczna remains completely blocked, and drivers should expect significant delays that may persist for several hours. The cause of the fire remains unknown, and an investigation will commence once emergency operations conclude.
