Truck Collides with Unmarked Police Car in Warsaw, Two Officers Hospitalized

Two police officers were hospitalized on Thursday, June 18, after a truck collided with their unmarked patrol car at a makeshift roundabout on Okuniewska Street in Warsaw’s Wesoła district.

The Collision on Okuniewska Street

The accident occurred shortly after 9:00 AM on Okuniewska Street. A MAN truck struck the side of an unmarked VW police vehicle. Preliminary findings indicate the truck driver entered the makeshift roundabout and hit the officers’ car.

Emergency Response and Extraction

The impact caused severe damage to the patrol car. One officer managed to exit the vehicle independently and received care from paramedics. The second officer was trapped inside the wreckage.

Emergency services arrived on the scene and utilized hydraulic rescue equipment to free the trapped officer. Following the extraction, both injured officers were transported to hospitals for treatment.

Investigation and Traffic Disruptions

Authorities confirmed the truck driver was sober and held a valid driving license. Officials are currently investigating the precise cause and circumstances of the accident.

The incident caused significant traffic delays. By 12:00 PM, one lane of Okuniewska Street remained blocked with alternating traffic flow. Additionally, transit across the railroad tracks along Żółkiewskiego Street, near the intersection with Okuniewska, was suspended.
