Legal Battle Continues Over Kielce’s 10,000 PLN Birth Bonus

The Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship Marshal is filing a cassation appeal against a provincial court ruling that invalidated a local government program awarding 10,000 PLN to every 50th baby born in a regional hospital.

The Disputed Cash Incentive

Launched this January by the Świętokrzyskie Marshal’s Office, the program provided 10,000 PLN to parents of every 50th child born at the Provincial Integrated Hospital in Kielce. Regional officials stated the initiative was designed to combat demographic decline and encourage families to build their futures within the region.

Court Ruling Invalidates Local Resolution

The Świętokrzyskie Voivode challenged the legality of the program, leading the Provincial Administrative Court to rule the local resolution void. The court ordered the provincial government to cover 480 PLN in litigation costs, stating the program lacked a proper legal basis.

Appeal and Program Suspension

Voivode spokesperson Angelina Kosiek expressed satisfaction with the verdict, noting that their legal arguments were upheld. In response, Marshal Renata Janik announced plans to file a cassation appeal with the Supreme Administrative Court in Warsaw, citing that the program had already provided real benefits to fifteen local families.

Political Impasse on Demographic Aid

The implementation of the program remains suspended pending the final ruling from the Supreme Administrative Court. Marshal Janik expressed regret that the initiative failed to garner political consensus, as the government had hoped to expand the model to other hospitals across the province.
