72-Year-Old Woman Dies After Being Struck on Salomea-Wolica Route

A 72-year-old woman died in a Warsaw hospital on Friday after being struck by an Iveco delivery truck while standing on the emergency lane of the Salomea-Wolica route in Opacz-Kolonia.

The Incident

The accident occurred on Friday, June 19, at approximately 3:49 p.m. on the Salomea-Wolica route near the Nowa Street overpass in Opacz-Kolonia, Pruszków County.

Preliminary findings indicate that the 72-year-old driver stopped her Mercedes on the emergency lane and exited the vehicle. She was subsequently struck by a passing Iveco delivery truck.

Emergency Response and Medical Outcome

The victim was in critical condition at the scene. Emergency responders performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and after stabilizing her, transported her by LPR air ambulance to a Warsaw hospital.

Despite the medical intervention, the woman succumbed to her injuries at the hospital.

Investigation and Traffic Impact

The driver of the Iveco was tested for alcohol and found to be sober. Police and emergency services worked at the scene, leading to a complete blockade of traffic toward the center of Warsaw and delays toward Nadarzyn.

Police are investigating the exact circumstances of the collision under the supervision of a prosecutor to determine how the incident occurred after the woman exited her vehicle.
