Circumstances of the Disappearance
The infant’s 37-year-old mother reported him missing late Thursday evening in Renningen, Baden-Württemberg. According to police spokesperson Steffen Grabenstein, the child had been left unattended for a brief period after being taken from his stroller by an unidentified individual.
The child’s grandmother stated that the mother had returned from grocery shopping and left the stroller outside briefly to carry bags to the second floor. When she returned downstairs, the infant was missing.
Search Operation and Recovery
Authorities launched a search involving a police helicopter, drones equipped with thermal imaging, and tracking dogs. The body was discovered at approximately 1:45 p.m. on Friday.
While officials initially described the remains as likely belonging to the missing child, German media reported that the search operation concluded, confirming the body was that of the infant.
Ongoing Investigation
Investigators have not yet disclosed details regarding their findings, and the cause of the boy’s death remains unknown at this time.
