Police Station Evacuated in Iława After Package Injures Officer

A police station in Iława was evacuated on Tuesday evening after an unidentified substance leaked from a mysterious package, causing facial and eye irritation to an officer who had to be hospitalized.

Unsolicited Delivery Causes Incident

The incident occurred on Tuesday evening when a woman brought a package to the Iława police station. She reported receiving the parcel despite not ordering any items from the indicated online store.

As the woman handed the package to an officer, it abruptly depressurized while being handled. An unknown substance was released, striking the officer in the face and causing immediate irritation to his skin and eyes.

Emergency Response and Evacuation

Emergency services, including an ambulance, the fire department, and specialized police pyrotechnicians, were dispatched to the scene. The entire station was evacuated, affecting five officers and the woman who had delivered the parcel.

Two specialized chemical response units from Olsztyn were deployed to identify the substance and assess any risks of contamination or explosion. Authorities later confirmed that no chemical or pyrotechnic threats were detected, allowing operations to resume.

Officer Hospitalized for Treatment

The injured officer received initial medical attention on-site before being transported to a hospital for further care. Police confirmed that his life is not in danger, and the woman who brought the package sustained no injuries.

Investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances of the event, identify the sender of the parcel, and analyze the nature of the substance that escaped from the package.
