After Dr. Emil Jędrzejewski alleged deaths and medical malpractice at Warsaw’s Southern Hospital during a broadcast interview, Mayor Rafał Trzaskowski announced he will request an urgent investigation by the Prosecutor General.

Claims of Fatal Medical Negligence

In a late-night appearance on Kanal Zero, former surgical head Dr. Emil Jędrzejewski alleged that patients were dying at the Southern Hospital’s emergency department due to the employment of inadequately trained staff. He claimed that medical errors led to fatal complications and that systematic organizational failures left patients unattended for hours.

Jędrzejewski provided a harrowing account of one instance where a deceased patient was discovered in a hospital restroom, alleging that staff subsequently performed tests and falsified records to create the appearance of proper care.

Concerns Over Hospital Management

The former department head linked several operational failures to the appointment of 28-year-old Dawid Kacprzyk to lead the emergency department. Jędrzejewski stated that he attempted to raise these concerns with the hospital’s board and city authorities, claiming he even contacted Mayor Rafał Trzaskowski, though he received no response.

He further described critical administrative gaps, including a lack of nursing staff and patients remaining in the hospital for weeks following simple procedures due to a lack of discharge oversight.

Legal Disputes and Counter-Allegations

Jędrzejewski was dismissed from the hospital two months after reporting the alleged irregularities, with management citing accusations of aggressive behavior toward Kacprzyk. The physician admitted to using an insult but denied claims of physical assault.

Conversely, hospital management and political sources claim Jędrzejewski is motivated by personal vendettas following failed business plans involving the city. The facility is currently seeking over half a million zlotys from the doctor for allegedly charging for fictitious duties and procedures.

Official Response and Investigation

Mayor Rafał Trzaskowski stated on the platform X that he was previously unaware of these issues and had received no official reports. He confirmed his intent to submit a formal request to the Prosecutor General for a thorough explanation of the events described.

Jędrzejewski maintains that he is prepared to defend his statements and understands the gravity of the accusations, which now await verification by legal and oversight authorities.
