Stanowski Cuts Ties with Pro-Referendum Activist Wilk; Giertych Responds

Krzysztof Stanowski has ended his professional collaboration with Maciej Wilk following the latter’s involvement in a campaign to recall Warsaw Mayor Rafał Trzaskowski, prompting a sarcastic retort from Roman Giertych.

The Split Between Stanowski and Wilk

Maciej Wilk, former operations board member at LOT Polish Airlines, currently heads the Polish Development Foundation and the Association for the CPK. He previously hosted a program on Kanał Zero focusing on rail and aviation infrastructure.

Following the editorial team’s coverage of the Southern Hospital, Wilk registered a domain for the “Capital Referendum Operation” (SOR), aimed at recalling Mayor Rafał Trzaskowski. On June 26, Kanał Zero head Krzysztof Stanowski announced the end of their collaboration, stating that Wilk’s shift toward quasi-political activities necessitated the move.

Giertych’s Commentary on Political Ambitions

MP Roman Giertych responded to the news by noting the irony of the situation. He referenced Stanowski’s own 2025 presidential run, in which the journalist received 243,479 votes, amounting to 1.24 percent of the total.

CPK Project and Government Shifts

The Association for the CPK drafted a civic project to compel the current government to maintain the Central Communication Port plan established under the previous United Right coalition. Karol Nawrocki signed a bill modeled after this project on August 7.

The Supreme Audit Office (NIK) previously reported that the development of the CPK between 2021 and 2023 was mismanaged, citing unreliable expenditure tracking and significant delays. The current government has since rebranded the project as Port Polska.
