A major fire broke out at a waste management facility in Mszczon贸w early this morning, prompting a massive response from 120 firefighters who were deployed to battle the blaze amid extreme heat.
Firefighting Operations Amid Extreme Heat
Emergency services were alerted to the fire shortly before 5:00 a.m. The blaze engulfed a building spanning approximately 400 square meters. Jaros艂aw Belina, spokesperson for the 呕yrard贸w District State Fire Service, confirmed that the fire struck a waste processing plant in Mszczon贸w, Masovian Voivodeship, resulting in significant structural damage.
Although the situation is now under control and crews are currently engaged in final extinguishment, the intense heat necessitated the deployment of 120 firefighters to allow for regular rotations.
Air Quality Monitoring and Public Safety
Authorities have confirmed that there are no casualties. A chemical rescue unit is on-site monitoring air quality; while concentrations of harmful substances briefly spiked, they are currently falling rapidly and pose no immediate threat. Due to favorable wind conditions directing smoke away from the town, there is no requirement to evacuate local residents. Efforts to fully extinguish the fire are expected to continue for several hours.
