Court Orders Detention for Man Who Threatened President Online

A 36-year-old Ukrainian national has been remanded in custody for one month after allegedly making death threats against President Karol Nawrocki during an online conversation broadcast on the internet.

The District Prosecutor’s Office in Zielona Góra successfully requested a one-month detention for the suspect. Prosecutors argued that the man posed a flight risk and could potentially obstruct the ongoing investigation.

The 36-year-old suspect was arrested at his place of work and brought before the prosecutor. He faces formal charges of insulting a constitutional state body and issuing criminal threats.

Deportation Procedures

Police are initiating proceedings to deport the suspect. Because the man lacks a permanent address in Poland and his residence permit has expired, local authorities are coordinating with the Border Guard to finalize his expulsion from the country.

Nature of the Alleged Threats

The investigation centers on a video of an online conversation that circulated on social media. According to investigators, the suspect claimed to possess a weapon for “killing dictators,” specifically naming President Karol Nawrocki.

The charges carry a potential penalty of up to three years in prison.
