Understanding the “Mama 4 Plus” Mechanism
This program is not a standard pension addition. It acts as an insurance buffer designed to bring the income of the lowest-earning parents up to the level of the current minimum pension.
As of April 2026, official ZUS data indicates that 60,000 individuals were receiving this benefit, with an average monthly supplementary payment of 1,083.23 PLN.
Eligibility Criteria and Requirements
To qualify for the payment, applicants must meet three specific conditions: having raised at least four children, reaching the retirement age of 60 for women or 65 for men, and lacking sufficient income to meet basic living needs.
Fathers may also receive this benefit, but only if the mother of the children is deceased, abandoned the family, or did not participate in the children’s upbringing for a significant period.
Risk of Benefit Suspension
The supplementary benefit is social in nature and subject to ongoing review by ZUS. Payments will be immediately withdrawn or reduced if a beneficiary begins gainful employment or obtains other income exceeding the minimum pension threshold.
Beneficiaries are legally obligated to promptly notify ZUS regarding any changes to their financial or marital status.
