Andrzej Morozowski Passes Away: Renowned TVN24 Journalist Dies at 69

Veteran TVN24 journalist and investigative broadcaster Andrzej Morozowski has died at the age of 69 following a battle with cancer, the station announced on Tuesday.

On Tuesday, August 4, TVN24 announced the death of Andrzej Morozowski, who was associated with the station for about 25 years. Tomasz Sianecki bade farewell to his editorial colleague, noting that although the news was expected, it remains difficult to accept.

Battle with Cancer

The journalist had been absent from the TVN24 airwaves for over half a year due to oncological treatment. After returning to the program “Tak jest,” he confirmed to viewers that he had been fighting cancer and that his health allowed him to return to work on a reduced schedule.

Previously, in April 2024, he also disappeared from the air for several weeks due to what was described at the time as convalescence following a hospital procedure, though it was not specified whether it was related to the same illness.

Career and Media Path

Morozowski was one of the most recognizable investigative and opinion journalists of the past two decades. He studied theatre knowledge at the Warsaw Theatre Academy after graduating from high school, and his path to journalism included political involvement in 1989.

From 1990 to 2000, he was associated with Radio Zet while simultaneously cooperating with TVP as a parliamentary reporter for Teleexpress. A turning point came in 2001 when he joined TVN24 to host various programs.

The “Teraz my!” Program and the Tape Affair

He was best known for the authorial program “Teraz my!”, which he hosted alongside Tomasz Sekielski on TVN between 2005 and 2010. During a September 2006 episode, in cooperation with Self-Defense MP Renata Beger, the journalists recorded her conversations with PiS politicians using a hidden camera, sparking the famous tape affair.

Awards and Professional Recognition

For his work, Morozowski received numerous accolades, including a Wiktor in 2005, Grand Press Journalist of the Year in 2006, and two Telekamery awards in 2007 and 2008. He is also the co-author of several books, including an extended interview with Michał Kamiński titled “Koniec PiS-u.”
