Body Recovered From Vistula Nudist Beach in Wawer

Emergency services recovered the body of a 39-year-old man from the Vistula River near the Southern Bridge in Warsaw’s Wawer district yesterday evening after he disappeared underwater on June 29.

Discovery at the Riverbank

Emergency services were notified yesterday evening after a regular visitor discovered a body drifting near the nudist beach in the vicinity of the Southern Bridge. Police arrived at the scene, recovered the body from the water, and a physician confirmed the death.

Tragedy at a Black Spot

The victim was a 39-year-old man who had gone under water in that same location on Monday, June 29. The area is officially marked as a “black spot,” a designation used for sites with a history of drownings to warn the public against swimming in particularly high-risk zones.

Ongoing Risks in Warsaw

Despite the popularity of the wild beaches near the Southern Bridge during hot weather, authorities warn that the Vistula’s current is often treacherous and the riverbed uneven. Police, under the supervision of the prosecutor’s office, are currently investigating the exact circumstances of the death.
