Chaos at Smolensk Anniversary: Kaczyński Labels Protesters “Social Scum”

During the monthly Smolensk memorial ceremony in Warsaw, Jarosław Kaczyński clashed with police and protesters, labeling his opponents “social scum” while threatening future legal action and institutional purges upon returning to power.

Confrontation at Piłsudski Square

Kaczyński engaged in a heated discussion with police officers after being blocked from reaching the monument, ultimately laying a wreath on the sidewalk nearby. He was accompanied by party figures including Antoni Macierewicz, Zbigniew Bogucki, and Sławomir Cenckiewicz.

The PiS leader accused the authorities of using protesters to mask scandals, claiming the government utilizes “the worst social scum” to mock the law and disrupt the commemorative events.

Demands for an “Alternative Guard”

Kaczyński criticized the police for their lack of intervention, describing the current force as “thugs of the ruling party.” He vowed that a future government would replace existing structures with a “citizen guard” to ensure order.

He further suggested that authorities failing to maintain order would face investigations to determine if they were acting on their own or under the influence of foreign powers, including Russia.

Threats of Judicial and Political Purge

The former prime minister warned that upon regaining power, his administration would implement strict bans on approaching the Smolensk monuments. He described the current political landscape as a state of total crisis and deep corruption.

Kaczyński reiterated his long-standing theory that the 2010 Smolensk plane crash was an “assassination” with accomplices inside Poland. He vowed to track down these individuals and bring them to justice as part of a broader institutional reform.
