Impending Change at the National Labor Inspectorate

The tenure of Chief Labor Inspector Marcin Stanecki is nearing an end. Appointed in June 2024 by then-Speaker of the Sejm Szymon Hołownia, Stanecki is set to be dismissed after only thirteen months in office.

An extraordinary meeting has been scheduled for July 1, 2026, to decide the future of the agency’s leadership.

Decision Process and Political Oversight

The extraordinary session will focus on a motion by Sejm Speaker Włodzimierz Czarzasty regarding the dismissal of Stanecki and the appointment of his successor. The National Labor Inspectorate (PIP) operates under the authority of the Sejm, with the Speaker responsible for personnel changes following consultations with the Labor Protection Council and the relevant parliamentary committee.

Janusz Krasoń as the Prospective Successor

Janusz Krasoń has been identified as the candidate to lead the PIP. He currently directs the Wrocław Training Center of the PIP, a role he also held in the 1990s. Krasoń brings extensive political experience to the position, having served three terms in the Sejm representing the SLD and the Left and Democrats coalition.

Opposition from Employers

Representatives of the business community have expressed surprise at the sudden move. Employers have declared their intention to oppose the dismissal of the incumbent chief during the special vote on July 1.
