Drunk Driver Crashes Into Tree; Witnesses Rescue Passengers from Burning Vehicle

Four people were hospitalized on Wednesday, June 25, after a Volkswagen Passat struck a tree and caught fire on Leśna Street in Dobiesz, Piaseczno County, driven by an intoxicated woman.

The Collision and Rescue

The accident occurred around 8:30 PM on the road between Dobiesz and Baniochą. Four occupants—two women and two boys aged 12 and 14—were traveling in the vehicle when it veered off the road and hit a tree, sparking a fire.

Witnesses rushed to the scene, using fire extinguishers to suppress the flames before evacuating the occupants. The driver, who had her legs trapped, was pulled out first, followed by a female passenger who was drifting in and out of consciousness. The two boys managed to exit the vehicle largely on their own.

Emergency Response and Medical Condition

Shortly after the passengers were removed, the car was fully engulfed in flames, preventing further intervention by bystanders. Firefighters arrived to extinguish the blaze while medical teams provided urgent care to the victims.

All four individuals were transported to the hospital. The female passenger sustained critical injuries and remains unconscious under medical care.

Police Investigation and Road Closure

Alcohol testing performed on the driver revealed a blood alcohol content of 1.3 per mille; a blood sample was also taken for further laboratory analysis. Police secured the site to conduct measurements and document evidence.

The road between Dobiesz and Baniochą was completely blocked in both directions while emergency crews cleared the scene and investigated the circumstances of the crash.
