Czech Police Identify Polish Man Found Lying at the Foot of Mount Śnieżka

Czech police have successfully identified a Polish man found unresponsive outside a mountain base near Mount Śnieżka, though how he crossed the border remains unclear.

Police Appeal and New Information

Photos of the mysterious man lying on a hospital bed circulated online after police previously appealed for help in establishing his identity. Officers have now managed to obtain new information regarding the case.

Current Medical Condition

Officers finally managed to communicate with the man and established that he is a Polish citizen currently staying in a hospital. One of the press spokespersons for the Czech Police in the Hradec Králové Region, 1st Lt. Šárka Pižlová, stated in an interview with Wirtualna Polska that while legal regulations prevent her from disclosing health status details, his life is no longer in danger.

Unclear Border Crossing

It remains unknown how the man found himself on the Czech side of the border, and police declared they are cooperating with Polish counterparts on the matter. Jelenia Góra police informed Wirtualna Polska that they have no information regarding the case, noting they have not searched for anyone in the Sudetes recently and no one has been reported missing.

Police previously appealed for assistance in determining the man’s identity.

Discovery by a Rescuer

A rescuer found the man on Tuesday at around 8:00 PM in front of the base in Pec pod Sněžkou, after which the rescuer notified the police upon seeing his condition. Because the man initially could not communicate or answer questions, he was transported to a hospital where medical examinations confirmed he was not under the influence of alcohol or other intoxicants.

Lack of Identification Documents

The rescuer who reported the incident recounted seeing the Polish man at a bus stop over the weekend. Czech police determined the man carried no documents to establish his identity, prompting them to seek public assistance while noting he wore light blue denim shorts and a brown t-shirt when found.
