Drunk 17-Year-Old Driver Sentenced Following Fatal Crash

A Wejherowo court has sentenced 18-year-old Michał G. to five years in prison for a November 2025 accident that killed two teenage passengers while he was driving under the influence.

Fatal Collision in Pomerania

The tragedy occurred between Kurów and Choczewko during the night of November 10–11, 2025. Around 2:40 a.m., 17-year-old Michał G. lost control of his Volkswagen Passat, veering off the road and striking a tree.

The driver was found to have a blood alcohol concentration of 0.44 per mille. He was unlicensed, and the vehicle lacked a valid technical inspection. Michał G. sustained only a hand injury.

Emergency Response and Victim Toll

Two teenage girls, aged 16 and 17, died at the scene. Wejherowo firefighters reported that the passengers were unresponsive upon arrival; one victim had to be extracted from the vehicle using hydraulic equipment.

Court Verdict and Sentencing

Michał G. admitted to the charges but provided inconsistent explanations during the proceedings. On July 14, the District Court in Wejherowo sentenced him to five years in prison and a ten-year driving ban.

The court extended the defendant’s temporary arrest until November 12, 2026. The verdict is not yet final.
