Kaczyński Rebukes Czarnek Over Anti-Ukraine Remarks

Jarosław Kaczyński announced that party leadership will address controversial comments made by Przemysław Czarnek regarding Ukraine, reaffirming that PiS views military aid to Kyiv as essential to Polish national security.

Czarnek’s Call for Pressure on Ukraine

Przemysław Czarnek stated on TV Republika that if he were Prime Minister, he would force Ukraine to radically change its stance toward Poland. He suggested leveraging Poland’s strategic position in NATO and the EU to force Kyiv to adopt different policies on historical and future issues.

Czarnek proposed that the EU should cease funding Ukraine’s military and reconstruction efforts until the country abandons what he described as anti-values, specifically referencing the glorification of Banderite ideology.

Kaczyński Reaffirms Party Stance

In a statement posted on X, Law and Justice (PiS) leader Jarosław Kaczyński distanced the party from these remarks. He emphasized that military aid to Ukraine remains a crucial matter of Polish raison d’état and national security, stating that Czarnek’s comments will be formally addressed by party leadership.

Kosiniak-Kamysz Accuses PiS of Radicalization

Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz condemned Czarnek’s words as dangerous nonsense. He argued that the comments represent an open attack against the North Atlantic Alliance and the strategic interest of the Polish state.

Kosiniak-Kamysz further claimed that PiS is attempting to compete for voters by mimicking the rhetoric of Grzegorz Braun. He asserted that the current government’s security strategy focuses on keeping Russian forces as far from the Polish border as possible, while accusing the opposition of sacrificing credibility for temporary political gain.
