Drunk Driver Faces Decade in Prison After Bribing Officer

After a concerned witness reported erratic driving in Warsaw, police arrested an intoxicated motorist who attempted to offer a bribe to the responding officer to avoid legal consequences for his actions.

Drunken Driving and Arrest

On Sunday, June 28, officers from the Białołęka precinct were dispatched following a report from a witness who had been trailing a vehicle from Praga Północ. The caller described the driver as moving in a slalom pattern and striking the curb.

Upon locating the vehicle parked in front of a property, police immediately detected the scent of alcohol. A breathalyzer test confirmed the driver was significantly intoxicated, requiring additional verification by a capital city traffic patrol.

Attempted Bribery and Legal Charges

While officers were conducting their on-site investigation, the driver attempted to offer the policewoman money to waive official proceedings. He was subsequently arrested, his driver’s license was confiscated, and he was transported to the station.

After sobering up, the man was brought to the Warsaw-Praga Północ District Prosecutor’s Office. He faces charges of driving under the influence and offering a financial bribe to a public official, crimes punishable by up to 10 years in prison. The prosecutor has placed him under police supervision.
