The leadership of Law and Justice (PiS) has reacted swiftly and severely to a controversial television appearance by Jacek Kurski. The politician received an indefinite ban on public media appearances, and his case was sent directly to the party’s Ethics Committee. Controversial Remarks on Mateusz Morawiecki

During the past weekend, Kurski appeared on TV Republika in a conversation with MP Robert Gontarz from the “Rozwój Plus” Association. In the interview, he criticized Mateusz Morawiecki, referencing the Smolensk catastrophe and President Lech Kaczyński.

Official Party Sanctions and Condemnation

Kurski’s words provoked a reaction from both Morawiecki himself and the PiS leadership. PiS Vice-President Mariusz Błaszczak announced on Tuesday that Kurski had been banned from making public appearances by the party authorities. Following a meeting of the PiS Political Committee, party spokesperson Rafał Bochenek stated on X that the case of the former TVP head had been referred to the party’s Ethics Committee.

Indefinite Media Ban Confirmed

A PiS politician told the Polish Press Agency (PAP) that during the Committee meeting, despite its primary focus on declarations regarding lack of membership in political associations, everyone condemned Kurski’s behavior. The member emphasized that everyone agreed his actions were damaging and inappropriate. If Kurski speaks out anywhere, he will do so in his own private capacity, though it will still affect the severity of his offense. The politician added that the media ban applies indefinitely.
