New Members Expected in Rozw贸j Plus
Mateusz Morawiecki admitted on Tuesday that additional politicians may soon join the Rozw贸j Plus association. Speaking to Polsat News, the former prime minister stated that he has held several conversations, one of which has already concluded, with information expected to be shared soon.
Lorek Returns to PiS While Obajtek Withdraws
This week, following the expiration of the ultimatum deadline to submit loyalty declarations, MP Grzegorz Lorek decided to return to the party fold after previously joining Morawiecki’s association. PiS spokesperson Rafa艂 Bochenek announced on Monday that the parliamentarian submitted his resignation from Rozw贸j Plus and returned to PiS with the required statement.
Morawiecki explained on Polsat News that he holds no grudge against the MP for his decision and wishes to focus on the future. When asked about Daniel Obajtek, who joined the association but later changed his mind, the former prime minister replied that he does not fully know the reasons and prefers not to pry into personal matters.
Irreversible Splits Within the Party
Morawiecki treats Jaros艂aw Kaczy艅ski’s words regarding the exclusion of “splitters” as binding. He explained that the die is cast regarding their push-out, which occurred toward the end of last week when all submitted proposals were rejected.
PiS Committee Action on Association Members
The Presidium of the PiS Political Committee banned its members from participating in political organizations, specifically targeting those who declared involvement in the Rozw贸j Plus and Po pierwsze Polska associations. Politicians were required to submit statements confirming they do not belong to them, with a deadline of Thursday, July 23, failing which they faced statutory consequences, including the loss of PiS membership.
On Tuesday, July 28, Rafa艂 Bochenek announced that the PiS Political Committee approved a list of 44 individuals who failed to submit the required party affiliation statement on time or in the correct form. Consequently, a motion was forwarded to the PiS Disciplinary Spokesperson to complete formal procedures and clarify the status of each individual.
During the press conference, Bochenek did not explicitly state whether every such politician will be removed from the party. However, he emphasized that from a formal-legal standpoint, Mateusz Morawiecki is not currently excluded from it.
