ER Missed Heart Attack Leading to Patient Death, Reports Indicate

Following a tragic patient death at Mazowiecki Szpital Bródnowski after an emergency room visit, prosecutors have launched an investigation into involuntary manslaughter.

Incident at the Bus Stop and Hospital Admission

According to reports from portal Zero, the incident occurred on May 14 when Grażyna felt chest pain, burning, and hot flashes while at a bus stop next to Mazowiecki Szpital Bródnowski. The woman managed to call her cousin, who called an ambulance, and a paramedic rated the urgency of the case as level three out of five.

Medical Documentation and Evaluation by Dawid Kacprzyk

The 61-year-old was admitted to the ER at 10:50 and underwent an EKG recorded at 11:10. Over half an hour later, Dawid Kacprzyk added an entry to the documentation stating that the patient was in “general good condition” and ordered paracetamol, a non-contrast chest computed tomography, a repeated EKG, and patient monitoring, before the woman was transferred to the observation room doctor at 12:10.

Cardiologist Assessment and Subsequent Deterioration

Journalists asked an anonymous cardiologist, a professor of medical sciences, whether Dawid Kacprzyk failed to diagnose a heart attack, to which the interviewee stated that the medical documentation indicates this, although the documentation has gaps.

Aside from Kacprzyk, at least two other doctors treated the patient, and the ER announced its intention to transfer Danuta to the Intensive Cardiac Care Unit at 15:00, but half an hour later she was found unconscious in an extremely critical condition and subsequently died.

Prosecutor Investigation and Suspect Background

The case was taken up by the prosecutor’s office.

The District Prosecutor’s Office Warsaw-Praga North is conducting proceedings regarding the involuntary manslaughter of a Bródnowski Hospital patient, with prosecutor Remigiusz Krynke from the Regional Prosecutor’s Office Warsaw-Praga stating that materials arrived in mid-July of this year, making the proceedings in their initial phase.

PAP recalls that Dawid Kacprzyk served as ER coordinator at the South Hospital in Warsaw, worked at the Voivodeship Specialist Hospital named after the Blessed Virgin Mary in Częstochowa and Bródnowski Hospital, and was a KO councilor for the Ursus district of Warsaw, potentially earning 1.6 million PLN in 2025 during his anesthesiology specialization.

Investigations Concerning South Hospital

The Regional Prosecutor’s Office in Warsaw is conducting two investigations regarding South Hospital, with the first concerning fraud exceeding half a million PLN and the second concerning abuse of power by a public official.

Politicians of the Civic Coalition were reportedly admitted out of turn at the ward coordinated by Kacprzyk, receiving comprehensive examinations almost immediately after registration, according to PAP.
