Fatal Crash in Mściszewice: Nine Passengers in Car, Four on Roof

A 17-year-old unlicensed driver crashed into a ditch in Mściszewice, Pomeranian Voivodeship, on Friday night while carrying nine passengers, four of whom were riding on the vehicle’s roof.

The Incident in Mściszewice

The accident occurred late Friday night on a forest road in Mściszewice. Kartuzy County Police received a report after midnight regarding a vehicle that had rolled over. Nine individuals were traveling in or on the car, with five inside and four positioned on the roof.

Underage and Intoxicated Driver

Preliminary findings by Pomeranian police indicate that the 17-year-old driver lacked a valid driver’s license and was intoxicated, with a blood alcohol level of 1.0 per mille. The teenager lost control of the vehicle, veered onto the right shoulder, and drove into a roadside ditch, causing the car to flip.

Tragic Consequences

Police detained the teenager at the scene and began a procedural investigation to clarify the circumstances of the crash. Emergency responders transported a 17-year-old passenger to the hospital, where he subsequently died from his injuries. The other passengers remained unhurt.

Authorities have issued an urgent appeal to parents, guardians, and road users to prioritize safety and strictly follow traffic regulations. Officials emphasized the need for bystanders to intervene when an unlicensed individual intends to operate a vehicle, noting that momentary recklessness can lead to preventable tragedies.
