Intoxicated 21-Year-Old Biker Faces Charges After Bemowo Crash and Assault

A 21-year-old Ukrainian national was arrested in Warsaw’s Bemowo district on July 11 after running a red light while intoxicated, colliding with a car, and assaulting a witness.

Crash and Confrontation

The incident occurred on Saturday, July 11, around 11:00 PM at the intersection of Lazurowa and Obrońców Grodna streets near the S8 route. A Suzuki motorcycle collided with a Mercedes passenger vehicle.

According to police reports, the motorcyclist was traveling along Lazurowa Street from the direction of Dywizjonu 303 Street. He entered the intersection against a red light, leading to the collision with the car.

Aggression and Police Intervention

Following the collision, the female driver of the Mercedes notified authorities that the motorcyclist had physically attacked a witness who had intervened at the scene. Police officers arrived shortly after, subdued the man, and took him into custody.

The motorcyclist was identified as a 21-year-old Ukrainian citizen. A breathalyzer test revealed he had a blood alcohol content of 1.93 promille. After initial processing, he was transported to a sobering station.

Formal Charges and Legal Proceedings

On Monday, the assaulted witness filed a formal report regarding the post-collision incident. Based on the gathered evidence, the 21-year-old faces charges for driving under the influence and causing bodily harm resulting in a health impairment of less than seven days.

Police confirmed that the suspect is also being investigated for driving without a license, failing to stop at a red light, and causing a traffic collision. The case file and a request for sentencing will be submitted to the court.
