The restriction on sales on non-working days stems directly from regulations governing the work of retail facilities in Poland. The legislator explicitly specified the reasons for introducing the sales ban in the project justification. The aim of the act restricting trading on Sundays and holidays remains to guarantee retail sector employees the right to regular rest, while maintaining the availability of essential services for citizens by designating a closed catalog of exemptions.
In practice, this means that the largest retail chains—including Biedronka, Lidl, Kaufland, Auchan, and Carrefour markets and discounters—will remain completely closed on August 2.

This year’s schedule assumes a total of 8 trading Sundays. As many as three of them are planned for December, which is intended to facilitate pre-holiday shopping in the context of the introduced changes regarding a free Christmas Eve. Standard restrictions apply on other Sundays.
