KO MP Collapses Following PiS Allegations; Bochenek Issues Apology

Civic Coalition MP Katarzyna Piekarska required assistance to leave the chamber after PiS lawmakers accused her of using an alleged “VIP lounge” for preferential medical treatment at a Warsaw hospital.

The Incident and Allegations

Katarzyna Piekarska left the parliamentary session with the help of the Marshal’s Guard and fellow MPs. She later explained to TVN24 that Law and Justice (PiS) members had accused her of benefiting from preferential treatment at the South Hospital in Warsaw.

The controversy stems from reports regarding the hospital’s operations, including allegations of an unofficial, accelerated path for KO politicians and their families to access care. PiS politicians circulated a list of individuals they claimed used this service, which included Piekarska’s name.

Piekarska’s Response to Claims

Piekarska denied the accusations, stating she has never visited that hospital and follows standard treatment procedures. She noted that she approached the PiS MPs to warn them she would file a lawsuit if the graphic containing her name was not removed.

Currently undergoing treatment for breast cancer, Piekarska expressed frustration at the claims. She pointed out that her treatment history is transparent on her social media profiles, where she consistently encourages followers to undergo preventative screenings.

Demand for Public Accountability

Reflecting on the confrontation, Piekarska admitted that the stress of the false accusations reached a breaking point. She confirmed that PiS MP Rafał Bochenek sent her a private apology regarding the matter.

Despite receiving the private message, Piekarska maintains that those who make public accusations have a responsibility to issue a public apology for the harm caused.
