Medical Council Moves to Suspend Dawid Kacprzyk Amid Hospital Scandal

The Supreme Medical Council has filed a formal motion to suspend the medical license of 28-year-old physician Dawid Kacprzyk following allegations of professional misconduct at Warsaw’s Southern Hospital.

Motion for License Suspension

The Supreme Medical Council (NIL) has taken decisive action regarding the scandal at the Southern Hospital involving Dawid Kacprzyk. A formal motion to suspend the young physician’s right to practice medicine has been submitted to the medical court, as confirmed by RMF reports.

The medical court will likely reach a decision on the suspension within several weeks. NIL President Dr. Łukasz Jankowski stated that the physician has the right to mount a defense, present evidence, and call witnesses during the proceedings, which are typically faster than those in common courts.

Core Allegations and Potential Penalties

Dr. Jankowski clarified that the primary issue is not the physician’s substantial earnings, but rather concerns over working hours and the potential abandonment of medical shifts, which he described as reprehensible. The medical court may impose penalties ranging from admonishments and public reprimands to the revocation of a medical license if the charges are confirmed.

Kacprzyk is also scheduled to appear before the Regional Medical Chamber in Warsaw on July 1 to provide further explanations regarding his conduct.

Scope of the Scandal

The controversy surrounding the 28-year-old, who served as an emergency department coordinator despite lacking a specialty, involves claims that he earned 1.6 million PLN in one year. Allegations suggest he participated in Warsaw City Council sessions as an elected official while simultaneously scheduled for hospital shifts.

The incident has triggered legislative changes regarding the disclosure of medical earnings and launched multiple health facility audits. Furthermore, the Minister of Justice and Prosecutor General confirmed that a prosecutor’s investigation into irregularities at the Southern Hospital is currently underway.

Whistleblower Testimony

Dr. Emil Jędrzejewski, a former Southern Hospital employee who lost his position after reporting the irregularities, has accused Kacprzyk of serious negligence. Jędrzejewski alleges that Kacprzyk is indirectly responsible for the deterioration of patient health at the facility. The prosecution is expected to hear his testimony on the matter.
