Minister Żurek Launches Prosecutor Review Into Southern Hospital Scandal

Justice Minister and Prosecutor General Waldemar Żurek has initiated an investigation into alleged irregularities at Warsaw’s Southern Hospital following a formal appeal from Mayor Rafał Trzaskowski regarding serious medical allegations.

Government Action Initiated

Justice Minister and Prosecutor General Waldemar Żurek addressed the controversy surrounding Warsaw’s Southern Hospital during a morning interview with RMF FM. Following an urgent request for intervention from Mayor Rafał Trzaskowski, the minister confirmed he is in direct contact with prosecutors regarding the case.

While an official letter from the Mayor has yet to reach the Ministry, Żurek stated that investigative actions are already underway. The minister confirmed he plans to meet with the prosecutor supervising the case.

Review of Hospital Fatalities

Minister Żurek stated that the prosecutor’s office has commenced a comprehensive search and review of all previous records. The ministry plans to re-examine every case involving patient deaths at the Southern Hospital that had been previously reported to the prosecution.

The minister emphasized that the situation is grave and cannot be overlooked. The investigation follows allegations made by whistleblower Dr. Emil Jędrzejewski in a recent media interview, where he claimed that a 28-year-old physician without specialized qualifications, Dawid Kacprzyk, was responsible for fatal medical errors.
